Who We Are
For more than twenty years, NFNC has helped inmates in Colorado jails and prisons. Through our corps of dedicated volunteers, we serve inmates with respect and dignity offering support and training in non-violent conflict resolution to transform their lives. Through our Alternatives to Violence Project, One-to-One Jail Visitation, and the Telephone Support Line we offer inmates the help they need to successfully reconnect to their community. No other organization provides these unique and effective programs to this troubled and challenging population.
Who We Serve
Our clients are primarily inmates in the Denver County Jail and four state prisons in Colorado. Many of them grew up in poverty and have experienced personal violence in their lives. In spite of adversity, they are often looking for ways to change their lives. Each year 6,300 people are released from Colorado prisons with over seventy five percent arriving on the doorstep of our Denver metropolitan community. New Foundations prepares these men and women to have a successful re-entry.
When people are released from jails or prisons, they often have lost all that they had, even if the person is in jail for one month and is found not guilty. They may have missed paying their rent or lost their job, leaving them homeless and unemployed. Our services and referrals help them get back on their feet.
