Catherine ScottCatherine Scott

Catherine has a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a specialty in Addictions Therapy. She has been a One-to-One Inmate Visitor for four years and helps train new volunteers.

Key Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) Volunteer Staff

Dori Painter

Dori was a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department for 33 years. Toward the end of her career, she was personnel officer in that organization. She has been leading AVP Workshop primarily at Colorado Correctional Center for over 10 years and received the Minoru Yasui Award 1999 in part for her work with New Foundations Nonviolence Center. She and Ken Wood work as a team.

Ken Wood

Ken Wood has been leading AVP Workshops primarily at the Colorado Correctional Center for over 10 years. He and Dori Painter work as a team. Ken is the owner of Home Alert.

Norm Pacheco

Norm received his training in AVP while an inmate at Skyline Correctional Facility. He has been a facilitator for 20 years and has obtained the designation of Lead AVP Facilitator. Currently, he is part of the facilitation team at Fort Lyon Correctional Facility.  Click here to read this success story!

Eric Smith, Secretary, MSW

Mediator, Lasting Agreement Mediator Service; volunteer, Mountain View Friends’ Meeting; volunteer, American Friends Service Committee. Eric has had 6 years experience as an AVP facilitator.

Jerry Utesch

Jerry is former police officer and received his training in AVP while an inmate at Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility and has been a facilitator for 20 years—including the last five years after his release from prison.
