Tamika Palmer Esq. - Board Director (April 2013)
Tamika was born and raised in St. Andrew, Jamaica, and
upon completing the Summer Graduate Program at Yale University in New
Haven, Connecticut, specializing in Political Science and European
History, she attended the University of the West Indies, graduating in
2000, with a Bachelors of Science degree, with Honors, in Psychology.
Being a firm believer in contributing to the local community, Tamika
participated in several volunteer programs, including the Stella Maris
Foundation, Youth Opportunities Unlimited, and Women Working for
Transformation. Whilst at the Stella Maris Foundation, Tamika developed
and implemented an after school program for underprivileged and at risk
girls. The program had a 97% success rate and was duplicated by the
local Heart Foundation (a local technical school).
Tamika later attended the University of Liverpool, in England, where she
received a Post Graduate Diploma (Master’s of Arts equivalent) in
Forensic Behavioral Science, specializing in ex-offender rehabilitation
and recidivism. After graduating, Tamika accepted a position as a Case
Manager at a Community Corrections facility specializing in women
ex-offender rehabilitation. After working in the criminal justice field
in Denver, Tamika gained a position in the Juris Doctorate program at
the St. Thomas University School of Law, in Miami, Florida, graduating
in May 2007. Whilst at St. Thomas, Tamika served as the Presidents of
both the International Moot Court Board and also the Caribbean
Association of Law Students. Subsequently, Tamika returned to Denver,
Colorado, and wanting to continue with her dedication to community
service, has since accepted a position as Board Member of the New
Foundations Nonviolence Center, where she hopes to contribute her skills
and experience to improving the lives of ex-offenders.
