Case Manager - Colorado Correctional Center

The Colorado Correctional Center would like to express it sincerest appreciation for all of the hard work and effort to Bruce Throne-Weber of New Foundations and its volunteers for their continued support of our offenders with the Alternatives to Violence Program. Bruce Thron-Weber and the volunteers of this organization including Dori Painter, Ken Wood, Andy Rose, and Steve Feldman have provided a great service to the Department of Corrections and the Colorado Correctional Center by allowing the progression of our offender’s rehabilitation process through a Workshop designed to enhance a person’s awareness of their tendency for violence by identifying the triggers or behaviors in themselves and others, which are not conducive to a positive lifestyle.

The Organization provides three levels of education from the Basic Course, to the Advanced and then allows the offenders who desire further progression to attend a Training for Trainers Workshop that give them an opportunity at a later date to utilize the knowledge provided them, along with their own personal experiences to facilitate further sessions. Since November of 1992, the dedicated volunteers of this great organization have in 2 month intervals, instructed over (98) 3 day Workshops and assisted nearly 1,500 offenders. Through their dedication to make a difference and the positive message that the Workshops provide; the courses have made and continues to make a huge impact in the lives of the participants. Offenders who attend the Workshops have commented on them by stating they are the best program they have attended in the Department and I, along with other staff members have seen the difference in the attitudes and lives of those who were given the opportunity to attend.

Once again, the Colorado Correctional Center and its staff would like to express its continued gratitude and appreciation to New Foundations and their volunteers and hope to continue with our combined efforts to provide our offender population with the necessary tools to handle any stressful situation, progress into the Community with that knowledge and to live positive healthy lifestyles.
