Former inmate - Denver County Jail
My name is Cindy. I am writing this letter to express the many ways the New Foundations Nonviolence Center has assisted me in times of need.
I was incarcerated in the Denver County Jail from 10/13/08 to 2/8/09. During that time, New Foundations made crucial telephone calls for me that included, but were not limited to, affairs regarding my time compensation, property pick-up from the Denver County Jail, and messages to family. A New Foundations volunteer came to visit me once a week bringing me the results of my requests. This volunteer also gave me resources I could use upon my release. Some of the most important aspects of these visits were the prayer time, general conversation, and relief of the loneliness I was experiencing.
Upon my release I utilized the list of resources I was given by the New Foundations. I was supplied with a clothing voucher, bus fare, and a Bible. When I needed a place to perform community service or to receive food stamps, New Foundations Nonviolent Center welcomed me with open arms.
This program is awesome. There aren’t words to describe how much I appreciate the help and support I’ve received from them. – written 2/19/10
